I too am struggling with unseasonal weather here, Autumn is my favourite season and I'm afraid we may completely skip it this year. The last couple of winters have barely seen me reach for my thermals and that too makes me sad.

That bird is gorgeous and an all too stark reminder of the cycles of life,

Can i ask what is the basis of your things that are good posts?

Thank you Kate, it's a real conundrum isn't it. Hopefully we get some seasonal weather soon.

Things that are good are collections of five good things - essays, media, recipes, books, hope, etc, and I try to pick things themed around good news/nature/living differently. Very happy to share access with you if you'd like to read one. I'll come back to you when I've worked out how to do that! :)

A lovely letter, thank you Lucinda. So terribly sad about your beautiful back garden bird, so lovely you could have a farewell with your girls. And well done on cutting back and saying no to a few things, it is harder than saying yes most of the time. Take care, Kate

I hear you on this warm weather. It settles me just a tiny bit to know that others are unsettled. That we’re witnessing this together. One of the hardest parts is the friends that don’t see the problem, that tell me just to enjoy the extended summer. Looking forward to some real Autumn this week! And RIP beautiful bird.

I completely agree Miranda. While I was writing this post I was thinking of how many people have said to me, 'Isn't this weather just beautiful!!!'. Glad to have given you some small element of connectedness amongst it all.

Poor darling bird. We get the eastern rosellas in our yard at this time of year, too, and we love watching the flash of their bright yellow collars fly past.

Autumn has finally started to unfold here in the High Country. It was indeed late this year, but my yard is now carpeted with reds and oranges and yellows and we, too, have lit our fire of an evening. Right now out my window, the sunlight is shining through the leaves that still cling to the trees and lighting them up like little lanterns. It's comforting. It's absolutely my favourite time of the year.
